The Cure: Status: Found...

(Okay, if you read the chatbox you know this is a thread about what would happen if the CURE TO THE ZOMBIES was found. I'm gonna start it off immediately after the cure is found if no one has any objections.)

"SIR!" A researcher screamed, bursting through the doors to the general's office. "What is it NOW, Pleansley?" The grizzled war veteran sighed. Around the clock for the past few years the only thing he'd heard were theories about cures and the like.
"We found it. We found the cure! And the best part, it can just be sprayed over the city! WE CAN WIPE OUT THE ZOMBIE VIRUS ONCE AND FOR ALL." Mark Pleansley, Head of Zombie Research and Development, informed the general.
For a brief second, the general was stunned. A second. "Well what the hell are you waiting for? GET THAT CURE SPREAD NOW!" The general shouted, with a rather overtly dramatic slamming of his fist on the oaken desk. Pleansley was more then happy to comply.

Pleansley was happily typing in the order. Several different neat little programs would be sent globally to all DNA Extractors and syringe stations. These programs would result in a slow, albeit highly effective way of curing the zombie virus once and for all. The process would likely take a month or maybe a bit longer, but would ultimately be worth it. Pleansley could already feel that Nobel peace prize around his neck already.

With a yawn, Sarah returned to her usual room in the cosway, and opened her bag. Not a syringe in sight. Grumbling, she decided that before going to nap, she should go to the Needs Building first and refill on NecroTech supplies...

It was when she was there that she heard the news- a person recently attacked by a zed had died. Permanently. More interestingly was the sudden downswing of attacks also reported. Curious, Sarah filed the info to discuss back at the Cosway, then refilled the empty syringes on her.

((Well, given the chance that the chemicals in question are probably some form of ultimate acid that could burn through the sun, I'd say drinking chemicals VERY bad.))

Simplish was wandering around the Cosway, whistling. He felt remarkably happy today. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that the zombie outbreak was finally dieing. In fact, the only complaint he really had all day was that he'd been stuck in his sleep by some guy. And even then, when he learned that he'd been revived, Simplish could've tap danced his way back to the Cosway through a zombie horde with happiness. And being stuck a second time to cure him of the virus, well that just took the cake.
Stopping by the room of his best friend, Hypno, Simp knocked on the door three times before just barging in.
"Hey Hypno! Guess what! The zombie virus is being cured. Isn't that great!" Simplish shouted at his friend.
Hypno had been readying a boot to throw at Simplish, when he heard what was being said. "No stinkin' way. We can actually go home!? How long?" Hypno talked warily, quite unsure about the news. "Well from what I hear." Simplish paused for dramatic effect."It'll take a month to fully get spread. Speaking of which."Simplish, remembering that the needles carried the cure, poked his friend in the back of the neck.
"Let me guess, needles carry the cure."Hypno stated to his friend. "Yup." Sam said smugly before walking away again, whistling.

Word of what was going on had reached his ears before he got to Egbert, so on the way over Mock was already expecting a madhouse. A crate of cure had been dropped into Grayside, and the ad hoc leaders of the neighborhood were trying to figure out how to distribute it. Of course, when every living person in the area is banging down the hospital doors, the only real way seemed to be to jab everyone in front of you until they got out of the way.

Across the dawn sky, over the rooftops, Mock had heard the rattling castanet sound of cheap, dirty machine guns as he snuck his way to the hospital. Corazon and his men mowing down any and all zombies that showed the greys of their eyes. Those among the horde who were determined to stay dead seemed to understand what was happening just as much as the living, and they were getting militant. Corazon and the Machetes didn't want to take any chances, and were only prepared to bring their revive candidates in bloody and motionless. It wasn't their call, but that's what they had decided, and these were not men who were scared of stern looks and F-words.

When he had arrived at Egbert, Jorge had just been relieved to see that Mock already had the jabs in his neck, one less thing to do. He had given him a large rucksack full of needles, told him to put together a revive team and get to the points, and sent him on his way. With all the population converging on the hospital, little to now reviving and/or curing was taking place outside it's walls.

Mock had stopped in a nearby library to check his stock when they got the drop on him. It should have been obvious to anyone that the death cults wouldn't take this particular breakthrough laying down. They must have been watching for anyone leaving the makeshift depot with cargo, and tracked him here. hH could all but turn invisible if he wanted to, but he hadn't anticipated that anyone would have their eyes on him so close to the commotion of the hospital.

"Betrayer!" called the one in the middle, some war-painted preacher freak flanked by 2 goons with guns on either side. "Surrender your posions to us! Do your part to halt this abomination, and be redeemed in the eyes of death!"

Mock made to look like he was opening the bag, then de-sleeved his glock, let off two hot ones in the direction of the goon with the biggest gun, and rolled behind the checkout counter.

The resulting gunfire over the counter lacked the distinctive oomph of a sawed-off, so he assumed a hit. Okay, so that was one. "We have seen the mark of the slave upon you!" the phlegmy shreik rang out over the fire, "We smell the stink of the new disease on you! You deny yourself life, rebirth, and you seek to corrupt your neighbors! You dishonor the great Gift!"

Since he was so insistant on giving hsi position away, Mock popped up from behind the counter and aired out the loud one. a bullet tore past hsi shoulder and took a chuck of hsi hood with it. Mock ran out from behind the counter into the nearby hallway, strafing on the way and clipping #3 in the hip. That was fine, he wasn't after a bodycount, he just wanted to shake them.

They had seen him hang left into the hallway, and he coudl hear the sounds of reloading as the remaing two advanced. Mock spotted the remains of some old barricade which had been thrown together last-ditch during some break-in, and hoisted himself up and over the doorway to the other side. When the two gunmen entered the hallway, showing him their backs as they aimed left, Mock dusted them off and got the hell out of dodge and back to the hotel. Get a team indeed.

In these last days of the virus, you had t know the cults were going to be working overtime. Trying to destroy the cure, find some way to reinfect the cured. Not that Mock hadn't hedged his bets.

It had hurt like hell to poke convincing needle-marks in the back of hsi neck, but clearly they had been good enough to pass at the hospital. Everyone was having their humanity handed back to them in needles, and as much as he wanted it, he wasn't fool enough to trade in his immortality while there was still danger out there. The zombies, the cults, a stray bullet from a trigger-happy Machete could end it all, for keeps. When it was all over, then he'd take the cure, but as long as these were the stakes of the game, Mock wanted insurance. At least that one extra life. This would be his last fake-out, the last ace up his sleeve in a deck full of bloody, worn out aces.

He returned to the hotel to try and get a rev team together. They certainly didn't need to know, either.

"Come out and play, HYPNO! Maybe I might just let you live. Or maybe I'll just skin you and wear your hide like all the rest." Benjamin Norm bellowed menacingly. In his left hand, the shotgun he always used to kill his victims. In the right, the skull he always wore on his head, reduced to a few pieces by a stray bullet from Hypno's pistol.
"Sorry Benji, But I think I'll stay here and just let the zombies out there get you."Hypno yelled mockingly from his safe point half a block away. Taking aim with his new found toy, a sniper rifle, Hypno aimed for Benjamin Norm's legs and arms. Hypno hadn't killed anyone yet and he wasn't about to do so now. Sure, let the man get eaten. But not kill him.
The reason as to why Benjamin Norm was after Hypno is quite simple. Cure needled to the back of the neck. The man who had caused so very much trouble got cured. And now he was gonna kill Hypno for it.
Before Hypno could take a shot, Benjamin Norm's head exploded.
"So terribly sorry about that, old chap!" A strange man in a top hat and monocle shouted at the now perma-deceased cult leader. "Didn't mean to kill steal from you young... Errr, Hypno, was it?" The strange man yelled. It was at that moment that Hypno shook his head in disbelief.

Sarah had just entered her room when she suddenly cluched for the doorframe as a sence of uneasyness fell over her. She coughed, sending a few drops of blood on the stained carpet. Finally, she fell to her knees as she felt her body being pierced with what felt like hundreds of little needles. She gave silent tears, willing the pain to stop...

Once the adrenaline of the gunfight had left him, Mock's mind finally found time to feel relief, maybe even joy. The new element of danger, and the uncertainty of the future aside, this was a victory, a happy time, and back in the comfort of the hotel he could begin to experience it as such.

Word had been traveling, but he didn't know who in the hotel knew and who didn't. It stood to reason that if one did, they all did. He hoped they all did. The news was so indescribably big, Mock almost didn't want the responsibility of delivering it.

"Oye, who's up?" He called out in the lobby when he didn't immediately see anybody milling about, "Who wants to guess what i got in this bag?"

Glancing up from an extremely recent newspaper detailing everything, Simplish smiled at Mock. "Let me guess, the cure?" Sam said, cocking his head to left with his smile. "Already got cured this morning, so no needs to waste it on me."
At the moment Simp said this, Hypno and the top-hat man strode into the lobby. "Everyone currently present, I'd like to introduce you to my new friend, Wilhelm." Hypno spoke, introducing the strange top-hat man. With a tip of his hat and a bow, Wilhelm proceeded to introduce himself. "Charmed, I'm sure. As you can probably tell, I suffer from a stereotypical British accent. Most likely due to the fact that I fell off a motorbike. But, I digress. I am here from Scotland to escort any and all uncured ones to the nearest curing station, after which I am to immediately escort you all out of here and proceed to contact any living relatives. After which, I am to monitor you all for signs of relapse. If relapse occurs, I am to." Pausing to find the right word, Wilhelm seemed highly thoughtful. "I am to calmly prevent your recurrence into a zombified state through any means necessary." Wilhelm finished, with a smile.
"So, if sh*t could hit the fan you're to kill us before the sh*t hits the fan." Simplish said rather crudely.
Coughing, Wilhelm started. "Mmm, well, yes to put it in those terms." Wilhelm stated uncomfortably.

"Well that makes at least you and me in the pin-cushion club," Mock tapped the back of his neck with a wince, "which is good to know. I just about got clapped down permanently, getting this stuff here from the hospital, so I'm happy to hang on to as many of-"

He hushed up when Hypno arrived with his particularly colourful stranger-friend. It might have been that he had fought off an ambush mere moments ago, or it might have been the alarming convenience of somebody arriving from - where? The Scottish government? - to deliver them to a station and then out of the city. What ever the reason, Mock decided his first reaction was not going to be to start waving his big bag of cure around at the newcomer. But, if nothing else, Mock had grown up to be somebody who looked his problems in the eye.

"Morning, Mr Wilhelm," Mock stepped across the room and took the man's hand, shaking it. "Marquez Guerrero. I've been instructed by the civilian infrastructure to gather a revive team and start spreading the cure outside of the stations; revive points and high-density areas. The three of us have already been treated, I don't know about everyone else in the building. If any of them agree to come with you, I'll happily escort you to Egbert General, if you don't already know where it is."

he let go of the top-hatted stranger's hand and smiled back. "The place is a bit of a mess after all, sir."

"I quite assure you that I know where Egbert General is, though I would appreciate someone who knew some of the civillians there." Wilhelm charmingly said. Wilhelm's eyes glittered suspiciously to Simplish. Something was just plain wrong about them. Something just not right at all about the eyes. Like they were hiding something. But where had he seen that before.
"Hey, uh, Wilhelm was it?"Simplish asked casually."Exactly WHY is the Scottish government taking such a great concern for us in Malton?"
Wilhelm smiled disarmingly. Again, something wrong about that. "I assure you the Scottish government has nothing but everyone's safety in their minds."
Sam looked at Mock and Hypno with a look of 'Please tell me I'm not the only one who isn't buying all this.'
"Well, I can do nothing but stand behind Wilhelm. Mainly because he just saved my a*s from getting killed by our old pal Benji. You remember? Big fat bus driver that apparently wanted to wear my skin?"Hypno talked, just to keep the conversation going. Hypno knew there was something wrong about Wilhelm's story as well.
Hypno paused for a second, remembering someone. "Hey, either of you two seen Sarah around lately?"Hypno questioned.

Pleansley was panicking. Panicking very, very badly. An agent carrying the cure had gone rouge. And there were more than twelve canisters of the virus missing. "It's alrigh', Pleansley. The agent's probably just doing some tests. Tha's right, just doing some tests."The scientist burbled strangely. Near him was about three empty bottles of Jagermeister and some fine wine.

Finally, the pain stopped. sarah slowly got to her feet and scratched her hair, wondering what had just happened. She advanced into the room and looked into the mirror.

Okaaay, why am I looking all zombieish now? she thought to herself. She sniffed in the air, catching the smell of humans down the stair. She listened hard- no heartbeat. Somehow she had turned into a zombie after being administered the cure. She cursed to herself and quickly shut the door. She knew the others knew about her abnormnality on the subject of deadness, but she didn't wan't to scare anyone on the prospect the cure had the opposite effect on her...

Mock responded to Sam's looks with a scratch of the eyebrow and a smirk that said 'I never buy anything.'

"Alright Mr Wilhelm, if what you're asking is to be introduced to the people in charge over there, I can help you with that. But I mean, they're not Scottish citizens, and they're not in Scotland, so I mean don't be surprised if they don't decide to recognize your authority, that's beyond what I can do for you."

After all, he thought, the only real government the neighborhood really recognized now was the handful of people in the community who had decided to try and keep things standing. There had been times when this very house had only recognized a government of one person, two people. "As for me, I've got my plan A so that's what I'm gonna do. And the people in this house have a lot of revive experience in their pockets, so I want them to have the option of getting on a revive team before they get shipped off anywhere."

He stopped himself from ending his explanation with any sort of "alright?" "does that work?" or any other question mark. He had tried hard to remain one of the advocates for diplomacy among the hotel's young people, and now that he had become an adult there seemed no reason to drop the ball, but he still wanted to set up the boundaries early in the game. To let the guy know that there were lines he wasn't going to get to cross.

"Nah, I just rolled up," he offered to Hypno after he asked where Sarah was, "I dunno who's here yet. How come?"
