"Well, the reason we're up here, other than to discuss how bad or good the cure quite possibly is, is to ask if you want to help Mock, Sarah, and myself cure some crazies before they swarm the hospital and destroy it."Simplish shruggingly said. "So, you in?"
At that moment, a crazed sciency looking man knocked on the front door to the Cosway. ------------------ "LETMEINFORTHELOVEOFGODPLEASEIDON'TWANNADIEANDSTARTEATINGBRAINSIHAVEAWIFE ANDTHREEADOPTEDCHILDRENATHOMEPLEASEDON'TLETMEDIE!"Was the only thing Pleansley shouted before he broke down sobbing.

Werdnari strained to listen to the voices above him as he neared the small landing for the third floor. Reaching the landing, he looked up toward the voices, only able to pick out Fa's familiar voice in his sauced state. Feeling his world begin to spin again, he quickly reached for the door, calling a slightly louder than intended "Hhey Faa!" up the stairwell as he exited. Stumbling, he reached his room and stepped inside, forgetting to fully close the door at the sight before him.
The room was barren, save for the old bed mattress and several small bits of trash. Thoroughly confused, Werd could do little but stumble toward the old mattress and drunkenly fall onto it. With a fair amount of drunken struggling he managed to sit up, his back against the wall, and gaze upon what was left of his room in a drunken daze, his mind unable to comprehend what this meant with the copious amount of alcohol currently in his body.
-----
Sula looked at the couch's sole occupant, running names through his mind until the older man's popped up. "Fridges? They haven't chased you out for being a dirty old man yet?" He grinned as he walked to wards the couch, pulling an unopened bottle wrapped in cloth from a small duffel bag around his body. "This was the stuff you liked, right?" Lazily he tossed the bundle onto the couch next to Fridges, moving to take a seat on the other end. "Its been what? Six years now?"

Fridges chuckled as Sula threw him the bottle. He reached over to it slowly and opened it up before taking a quick swing.
" Ahh yes...this certainly is the stuff I like"
Fridges capped the bottle and placed it down before continuing.
" And no....being a dirty old man ain't even close to the reasons people would want to chase me outta town. Yeah....six years I reckon. Last time I saw you was just before this place went to hell for a bit, I think. Where have you been? Wandering about preaching the good word?"

Cass took one look at the bloodied up girl and wrote it off as Yet Another Sarah Incident. After six years of them, she was used to seeing the girl in one stay of disarray or another. A lemming had better chances of staying out of trouble then that girl. The ex-soldier let out a short grunt of acknowledgement, leaned in closer to Fa's ear, and muttered under her breath.
"Should be thankful it didn't work. Half a dozen people would be out here before the needle emptied to off her." Cass rocked back on her heels and plastered on a cheery smile. "I'm gonna chase after the tyke there and talk te Kay. Got some news from the science girl down at the Needs," she said in a normal tone of voice. A curt nod later, Cass had turned around and begun jogging up the steps to reach the roof. Must've missed all the action after her less than stellar tumble earlier. That or age was getting to her more then she cared to admit.

((Simp, who's your guy talking to? Should Fa be answering him? I'm not clear on your last post.))
Fa didn't acknowledge Cass' undertone of dry speculation, but she was of about the same opinion. When word had first leaked that Sarah'd joined a gang bent on finishing people, there had been another squabble about whether or not the younger woman ought to be allowed to stay in the Cosway. Fa didn't want killers under 'her' roof (hypocritically enough) and Sarah had become one by choice. Fa reasoned that soldiers like Cass were different because they had joined the fray to protect and they more often than not were in the same boat as civilians like herself and her loved ones. As for thugs like Eddie... well he was dead and gone and, in the end, good riddance. Sarah had joined an organization that maybe was meant to protect, but didn't have any reputation for more than leaving mangled, un-revivable bodies behind. The only way that Fa'd been satisfied that Sarah ought to be able to crash in the Cosway for the remainder of their time in the hotel had been the strict provision that Sarah didn't bring any of her little friends back -- 'little friends' being friendlies or foes related to her organization.
The older blonde had also spent more time simply keeping an eye on the guinea pig of a girl. She didn't like to, but Sarah was just too much of a loose canon for Fa's little ordered world.
"See you up there," Fa told Cass as the soldier booted up in the other direction. To Sarah, the woman replied, "well I guess you and yours are going to have to do a little more experimentation to fix it then, huh? Why did you take the cure, anyways?" She hadn't expected the girl to be the kind to want normality, let alone mortality.
It was at that point that she heard Werd's garbled greeting and, frowning, her attention wandered from the youths on the stairs. A door slammed below them shortly after, a landing below, really, and so Fa raised her hands and shooed Sarah ((and Simplish?)) along. "You two go on ahead, I'll meet you up there too." She made a discreet exit, slipping down the stairs and opening the door to the third floor landing. Popping her head out into the hall, she didn't see much... maybe her mind was playing tricks on her? It'd been a hell of a long time since Werdnari had last been in the Cosway. It wasn't entirely unlikely that he'd returned, but the years that had passed ruled against it. Fa'd long since given him up for a rotter, lost in the hordes...
She stepped into the hall and looked down it, noticing immediately that one of the doors usually closed was open a touch now. If it wasn't Werd shuffling around inside, then at the very least they had another 'guest'. She rested a hand on the holster at her hip, moving down the hall more slowly, quietly. Fa didn't like to use guns, but she had gotten just as much practice with them as other Cosway residents. They carried the side benefit of alerting everybody within ear-shot that something was wrong in the building... and did their job faster than a blade or a bat. She didn't expect trouble, but she wasn't ruling it out.
She approached the door and pushed it open a little further, looking inside, ready to draw the handgun and get this over with... But things didn't turn out that way. "...Werd?" she greeted, surprised and a little confused. She could see him sprawled over a spare mattress (the one that they'd exchanged for Werd's original, good mattress some years ago, in fact!) stinking drunk. Her hand fell away from the holster and she came a little further into the room. "You alright?" Not 'you're back!' or 'you're finally back?' or anything else. If the man had been gone this long only to return now, he was probably here for a reason, and he might just not be well.

((Which one? Simp or Pleansley? If it's Simp, then yes. If it's Pleansley, he's just knocking on the door at ground level screaming for help. Anyone could answer honestly.))

"I've been preaching when people will listen, but those odds are around zero in a million here." Sula sank into the couch as he spoke, his body aching in locations he'd long since forgotten about. "Otherwise it has been job after job for the DEM, patrol here, secure here, revive people here, over and over and over. The north sure has been fun over the years."
He paused to take a quick swig from a small flask, enjoying the burning sensation of the home brew. "Eight days ago we found a rotter that turned out to be the water management kid from here. I talked the people with me into helping and we got him into a NecroTech lab. Past six days have been getting him across the city and back here. Great kid, but he handles booze like a fairy!"

((Simp: Simplish, I think. Wasn't sure who he was chatting to. Just consider Fa having taken in the cure-talk to heart... she'll be up if Werd doesn't distract her too much.
Speaking of, *prods Werd* You post for Fridges but not for Fa? D: Nooo!))

"Yup," Mock pulled his messy black hair back from his neck to revel the holes he'd jabbed in his own neck with an empty hypo. "Jorge pulled ain't airdrop off the street, I was one a' the first in line. Only one way to know if it works, and uh, I mean I hope I find out of old age, y'know?" He laughed it off, covering the red dots back up again as soon as he felt like he could.
"Anyway, I'm not gonna run around sticking it in livin' people, that's what the hospital's for. I wanna take this stuff out to the revive points and sneak it up on some of the hostile mobs. If nothing else, it'll knock the zombies down, whether they get up cured or not. I mean like, if we just leave that little island of cured people down there, they're dead, right? Figure we oughta establish a wider perimeter."
He shrugged down to the street. "Right now I'm just takin' a handful of the young folks, Sam and Sarah and them. Just for a few quick swipes at the streets, I ain't gonna make a career out of it or nothing."
In truth, if this worked, he would probably make a long, sleepless life out of it until this whole mess was over. He may not have consciously realized it yet, but Mock would probably be one of the last to willingly leave, if he left at all.

Werdnari sat up on the mattress as Fa stepped into the room. "Yeeaha, I'm," he paused for a moment, chuckling, "druunk."
Swaying slightly, he studied her, noticing a subtle change to her, but not able to pin the change down in his current state. "Sho, how'rre youu, youu-" She's beautiful. "-'rre beautiful, dooing?"
With that, Werd suddenly couldn't look Fa in the eyes. His eyes darted around, unsure of where to look as his brain scrambled to find an explanation for what he'd just said. Did I just say that? I've said it before, but... d*mn it! She's going to think! The booze! The priest! He's the one! f*ck! "Err... I... Faa... boozze... Shulula... nourth."

" Kid in water management you say? Sounds familiar. In a way. Drinks like a fairy aye? Thats a shame."
Fridges chuckled as he leaned back in his sofa.
" You know, you would not believe how hard it is to find a good sofa in this town these days. Don't suppose you know if any of the misfit brigade are still hanging about here do you?"

The fact that he was moving his eyes at all was a good start, whether or not the man was stinking drunk. The last time that Fa'd seen the man, he'd been in bad shape -- worse than Agate. One of Werdnari's eyes hadn't even worked anymore, as far as she knew. She hesitated as he slurred through most of his introduction, her lips pulled back into something neutral between a grin and a grimace.
"I'm just fine. You've looked... more sober," she finally answered, crossing her arms and leaning against the wall. It'd been too long. Fa was unnerved by Werdnari's sudden appearance, (and on the cusp of the cure being found, too. Was that just coincidence?) "So you came out of the north, huh? You want to get some rest? You're not making a lot of sense right now." She itched to ask questions, but she wasn't expecting to get much out of the man in his current state. What a shame.
Besides, there were still the rest up on the roof, and she didn't want to miss them as they went out with their needles.

Werd's brow twitched as Fa spoke, his stomach giving the first signs that he'd been given too much booze. "Ye-yeah, Fa. We'll thalk laterr?" His hand instinctively balled up and pressed against his mouth as he began to slowly swallow.
-----
Sula laughed, giving the couch a firm pat. "This is truly a couch watched over by the lord!"
He carefully lifted himself from the couch, several of his joints audibly cracking as he stood again. "I saw someone on the roof as we were coming in. Hopefully us old men don't have to walk all the way to the roof to find someone, though."
(( Just how loud did your guy at the front door knock, simp? ))
