"Blankets!" Sarah announced. She had taken the ones off her bed, but Red needed them more.

"I seem to have bad luck with the undead. Barely any combat skill, and they seem to be drawn to the skirt," Sandy tried to joke.

John didn't really find the joke funny, what with his unadulterated mind, but what was more attentive was that Kin remembered him. Yet thankfully not in his drunken gunslinging form. John had always dreaded people recognizing him like that, as being kiddified meant that he was pretty much open to any nasty revenge someone had got planned for him. Although, no-one had done this yet, maybe it was because imagining his old form to the kid he looked like was too hard for some people, or maybe it was just because people liked kids,
"Yeah, guess I am!" John said to Kin, "I've been away from the Hotel for a while, surviving and whatnot..."

Rio nodded to Theo's comment, even if he was young he knew what he was doing Rio noted, as she disappeared off down the hallway, up the stairs and onto a roof, gathering up a large beaten metal bucket from besides the stairs before she left. Ignoring the cold weather outside (even though it was pretty much impossible. It was cold!) she gathered up some of the cleaner snow into the bucket and hurried back down the ladder and back into the hallway. Figuring she'd better bring two buckets of the snow, she grabbed another one of the beaten metal buckets (That looked an awful lot like flowerpots shaped like buckets) and filled that one with some more snow too.
After closing up the hatch, she took the pair of snow buckets in each arm and took off down the stairs back to Red's room, where everyone was and laid down the snow buckets besides the door, and waited for Theo to return with the gas cooker needed to melt the snow. Rio didn't have one personally, and she guessed that it would take longer to ask around for a heater than to wait for Theo to return with one...

"I was too... for a bit," she replied in kind, her smile faultering only faintly. It wasn't far from the truth, but it wasn't exactly the truth either. However, elaborating on that thought was not something she wanted to do at the moment. Instead, she turned her attention towards the stairwell as they made their way up to the next floor.
Funny... she thought she heard her name being called.
"Hello?" she asked the empty air. Maybe she was just hearing things.

Theo let out a whoop of success as he held the small gas cooker complete with gas canister above his head and did a little jig. Waving it above his head before tucking it under his arm and jogging back out of his room, kicking the door shut as he went. Jogging back down to the third floor, being careful to make sure he didn’t drop the cooker on the stairs, Theo ran back into Reds room and set the cooker down next to the frostbitten man. Looking towards the buckets he gave Rio a thankful smile and wondered just how long it had taken him to find the cooker.
Scooping some snow into a smaller metal cup he turned the gas on and fished his lighter out of a pocket to light the gas, fiddling with it a little until it was on a low flame and he sat the cup on top before sitting back and watching the flame as he waited for the snow to melt "I'm not sure how much gas it has but... a little is better then nothing... right?" he asked a little apprehensively as if seeking reassurance that they were doing the right thing.

"Hey Cass, some blankets!" she said, bringing them in.

Her joke not going over well, Sandy stayed quiet and continued up the steps.

John smiled, he was beginning to like Kin more and more, thankfully he didn't notice that smile-falter for a second, even if he had he wouldn't have done much. It was hardly like anyone didn't have things that they wanted to hide in the city anyway. Most people had, and most people that wanted to know usually were alienated as nosey parkers or killed as zombie spies. John and heard of them, but he didn't really know what they were. Nevertheless, he asked Kin,
"Who's there?"
------------------------
Rio smiled at Theo,
"Anything is better than nothing!"
She then stopped smiling, and quickly made her way over to the doorframe to touch the wood of it, just in case...

It didn't take long for Kin to hear that Red was not only alive, but back in the building, and yet it seemed like an eternity before she could get her legs working again to carry her upstairs. Every muscle felt slack and every nerve numb. No matter how frantically she wanted to race forwards, she just couldn't move fast enough. It was as if that crucial knowledge had somehow wrapped her in a world of water which was forever pushing back against her.
Finally though, Kin made it to Red's room. She stopped dead in the doorway, her eyes flying from one individual to the next. They were all here to help Red. All working together to bring him back. And Red...
A muffled cry caught on her lips when she saw him sprawled out on the bed. She didn't dare to move, to touch him, to do anything that might confirm her worst fear. He looked so cold and motionless already. Cass broke the scientist's horrified stare with a short, gruff bark that may as well have been a slap of cold water across the face.
"Hey, glad to see you've joined us. If you're done gawking, mind giving Theo a hand warming up that snow?" Cass was still sitting on the bedside, presently unoccupied but assuming control of the situation. She had one hand on top of Red's to monitor his body temperature and her shoulders tilted to let her look back at the door. She indicated Theo with a nod of her head, then stopped short as a thoughtful furrow lined her brow. "Actually... I think he and... um... what'sherface can handle the snow." A fleeting glance was tossed Rio's way to convey both apology and a consideration that her name mattered not a whit at the present. "Red needs body heat."
"Wh- wh...?" Kin stammered, barely raising her voice above a whisper. The confusion written across her pale features conveyed the question just the same.
"He needs body heat. You're a body," Cass repeated in simple terms. She didn't want to take on the "listen to mommy" voice right then, but she didn't have time for Kin's usual naievity either. "Unless you're not comfortable cuddling up with your man. I'm sure he'd understand he froze to death cause of your sensibilities."
"Oh shut up." It was the first, last and only time Kin had ever told Cass what to do. She was just as surprised to hear the words come out of her mouth as anyone else. Cass' smug look only confirmed the fact that it was the right reaction anyway. With a defiant glare cast in the soldier's direction, Kin marched over to the bed and examined the free space.
At this close range, Red looked even more ghastly than before. His lips were blue, his hair tipped in melting frost, and the outline of his body beneath the blankets was skeletal compared to what she remembered. He was dying. He'd come all this way to get back to them, and now he was dying. No, Kin told herself, swallowing hard against the lump in her throat. They were going to save him. Though her cheeks burned red with embarrassment, she crawled into bed next to him and wrapped her arm around his shoulders. He was so cold. Keeping him warm seemed like such an impossible task, but she couldn't give up. Not after she'd spent so long searching.
"How's that water coming?" Cass inquired of Rio and Theo (heh, they rhimed) after she was sure Kin would stay put. Not that she had much in the way of doubts. That woman would be more likely hard to pry off now that she'd attached herself to her man again.
And in all the commotion, Kin had all but forgotten the pair of new comers she'd been on her way upstairs with.
((Sorry for leaving you guys behind, but I figure they probably heard the message same as Kin. You can have them come in after her if you like.))

Sandy followed and saw the unfolding drama. "Oh my god..."
Sarah just made sure the blankets were pulled up in the correct layering. "Me and Sandy could find a space heater..."

Rio gave Theo (They did rhyme!) the most help she could give with melting the snow, not really sure if she could fail a task like melting snow over a heater but making sure that she didn't in either case. After Cass spoke her name (or failed to remember her name) she looked up and said to her,
"It's Rio"
With as much politeness as one could muster when there was a dying man in the room and any possible failure now could result in his untimely death.
------------------------
Meanwhile John looked in from outside of the room, peeping over the doorframe at the scene: Red was asleep and possibly freezing to death so Kin was sexing him to keep him warm and Rio and that other guy were melting snow to make water? Even if personally John would have done things a little differently if he was in charge, he would have to admit (Only to himself mind) that Cass frightened him a little, so he wouldn't say anything and just keep watching from the doorway until Rio was done and the pair could unite again. Afterall, John was hungry and Rio kept all of the food in her pack, and John didn't quiet know where that was...

((*Meanders back in* well I never left really ^-^ just haven’t been sure on what to put))
Theo barely looked up from the melting snow as Rio took up a position near him and the heater, with his knees tucked up against his chest and his arms wrapped around his legs he just stared at the snow in the small metal cup, barely blinking it looked as if he was trying to make it melt faster just by staring at it. Likewise he barely registered Kin and Sarah appearing, or the quick intro from Rio.
However seconds later he spoke up, barely a whisper like he was hoping only Rio would hear in the small room "are we doing the right thing?" still he was facing the small heater, although now he was looking over to the blond out of the corner of his eyes, able to see about up to her knees from where he was sat. "I mean it would be easier, quicker and probably less painful for him to-to turn and then be neck poked..." he said to her still in a whisper, stuttering a little and trailing off as if he really didn’t want to be the one to raise the possibility.

Now that the initial concern was over, the room had gone quiet. Wind whistled outside and rattled the boards on the window, but that sound had become so common that it was almost entirely ignorable these days. The pop and crack of the old heater they were using to boil the snow added an odd, melodic note to the air. And despite how quietly Theo phrased his question, the heater was not loud enough to cover it. Cass looked his way, her face set in a stoney mask... Which wasn't very different from how she usually looked.
"Fine, kid. But you can't mean to let him suffer til he dies. You wanna go that route, you kill him first," she said in a firm monotone. She didn't have to look behind her to know that Kin had immediately tensed, clutcing Red close to herself. If Theo meant to off Red, he'd probably have to go through the science girl first.

"And the serum materials are starting to get low in the NecroTechs, if you haven't noticed recently," Sarah added a a surprising voice of reason. "Might as well comserve some of it..."
