Theo smiled as Kay said it was a good idea, he too still had the little wooden bull Red had made for him hidden back in his room, isolated but returning when the herd needs him indeed. When the shouts came from upstairs Theo stepped forward in front of Kay without thinking, making sure he would be the first thing any trouble that was coming down found, although he still jumped when Sarah made her usual sudden appearance, in all the time he had known her he still had no idea how she managed to just suddenly appear out of no where like that.
Hunching slightly all his muscles tensed as Cass shouted again, unable to match the voice to a face even though it was so familiar although Kay seemed to know her so that helped him relax a little, that is, until Rio appeared another person appearing whom he recognised but was unable to place was to much for Theo, breaking off from the group he quickly headed towards where Cass’s shouts had came from, muttering something about checking out what was up and it being to crowded now.
Jogging down the corridors Theo quickly found himself standing next to Cass, having a face to the voice helped him remember just who she was and he visibly relaxed a little, flashing her a smile and taking a small breath he looked up the stairs "so what’s the problem?" now he had seen her he was able to calm down, judging from her relative calmness and the fact he had just been up there what seemed like just seconds ago it couldn’t have been a zombie attack 'thank god' he thought to himself and started climbing the stairs.

"Good. Great. People," Cass said in quick succession, passing a sharp eye over the small gathering. She paid no attention to Sarah's flippant remark as she did almost everything else the brat had to say. Sarah was like the proverbial gnat buzzing in Cass' ear, and today she had no time to swat her away.
"Listen, I need help upstairs," she went on, her tone brisk and commanding. Looking to Theo, she snapped her fingers a few times until the name came to her. "Theo! You're with me. Sarah," her finger swivelled around to point at the teenager, "you find some blankets, sweaters, anything warm. Kay," she paused briefly, "you've got a baby. Right." The other stranger didn't even register in her vision at that point. Cass was already out the door and had one foot on the steps before she realized they'd likely want an explanation. She back tracked quickly, poked her head in the doorway and gave a short wave.
"Hi, nice to see you all again. Just got in from patrol. Red's passed out upstairs, likely with hypothermia. Let's get moving, huh?" And then she was off again, jogging up the stairs to get back to the unconscious body.
--------------------------
"Well, I honestly don't know yet," Kin said cheerily to the sullen looking child. It was not the response he wanted to hear, but she'd yet to get an update on the situation herself. "I just got in a few minutes ago." When Sandy returned, the scientist's attention was abruptly drawn back to the task at hand. She'd sorted everything, but other than the food that had alraedy been taken away there was really nothing of importance in the lot. Well, at least not to anyone that wasn't obsessed with getting her research back.
"Oh... um..." she stammered, looking over the assortment of samples, crumpled pages and bits and pieces of gadgets. "Still upstairs in my room I guess. I know I had at least a few cans put away there. You can help me bring them down if you like." Kin smiled up at Sandy, friendly as could be. Even before she got a response she had started to gather up the few odds and ends along with her folded backpack.

John thought about the comment Kin had made, about only being in for a few minutes, but how long was it since she had last been in? Feeling puzzled at trying to decipher the comment, he then quickly saw that he had been sidelined for some kind of experiment the pair here had been conducting, not even getting a look from Sandy. How dare they!? He wasn't the kind of person to be ignored! As anger boiled up inside John, he bowed his head and let out a long and painful sigh, why did people ignore him just because he looked four? Kids should be seen and not heard, some bullshit like that.
Pushing down the feeling to attract attention with crying, screaming or bullets, John watched onwards with bored eyes, hoping that the thing they were working on thing exploded, that would show them...
-----------------------
Meanwhile Rio noticed that she was being partly ignored too, but for a good reason, and that was that another member of the Cosway had presumably passed out upstairs. However, always being a follower rather than a trend-setter, Rio waited for the others to react first before doing anything herself...

Theokor was in his element again, following orders and helping people. Happily he jogged up the stairs after Cass. Coming up to the roof it didn’t take long to spot Red, still propped up against the rails the red head certainly looked like he had seen better days and instantly Theo broke into a run, despite the short remaining distance between them, passing Cass the snow sprayed up around his boots a little as he stopped next to Red, quickly checking his pulse and sighing lightly as he felt the faint beat. Putting Reds arms around his neck Theo lifted the body in his arms, cradling him as if one would a child and hurrying back towards the stairs, slowing as he went down them as to not slip and calling over to Cass. “Lets take him to the third floor rooms, most of the top two floors rooms are too fire damaged and cold for him.” Falling silent again he hurried down the stairs, breaking into a jog again as soon as he hit firmer ground, ignoring the others as he ran past them and muttering to Red “sorry for the rough ride man, but we don’t want to be wasting time do we?” Hitting the third floor Theo quickly moved to the nearest room he knew to not belong to anyone and kicked it open, the long broken lock easily giving way to his spiked boots, rushing into the room he let Reds feet drop but kept hold of his upper body, so he was effectively ‘standing’, holding Reds body tight up against his own Theokor visibly shivered a little. Looking over the bodies shoulder at Cass and any others that had gathered, rubbing Reds back gently to try and encourage warmth. Closing his eyes Theo tried to think back to when he had been pawing through an old medical book in a library when he was bored, speaking aloud more to reassure himself then explain to anyone else “if it is hypothermia its in an advanced stage, we have to warm him up slowly, to fast and he will go into shock and die, we need blankets to prevent further heat loss, and try to get him to drink some warm water to heat him from the inside, but not to hot!” squeezing his eyes tightly shut Theo tried to remember anything he had missed, wishing they had hospital services or at least proper heating in the building when a single line from the book flashed in his mind, standing out from the rest. ‘They’re not dead until they’re warm and dead.’ ((Of course Theo doesn’t really know if its hypothermia or not, he’s just going from what Cass said and the fact that its bleeding cold and covered in snow outside, so hypothermia would be the most obvious choice. And blankets, warm water and using your own body temperature to warm them are valid hypothermia treatments, he’s not just using it as an excuse to stay close to Red, honest ^-^ )

"And hello to you too." Sarah commented at the spot Cass had filled nanoseconds ago. Still, she went to her task, gathering warm articles in the building.

And Sandy followed Kin upstairs. "Who's the kid? Is he the youngest of your group?"

Cass had to admire the boy's enthusiasm. She had written the kid off as something of a spazz, but he seemed to snap to attention when his friends were in trouble. In all honesty, she was a little taken aback by the way the kid moved, always three steps ahead of her and babbling away at the same speed. She trailed after him, wary that he might injure Red further in all his eagerness to help. However Theo seemed to have a handle on things, so Cass was left to dog his footsteps down to the third level (pausing briefly back on the fifth to grab something out of her own supplies), whereupon the boy paused long enough to catch a breath.
Cass approached from the doorway, an unusual look on her face. She seemed stuck somewhere between admiration and the patience one needs to exercise with very small children. Her eyes darted over Theo's death grip on Red, as if the boy planned to bring his friend back to consciousness with shere force of will. With a bob of her head she motioned towards the bed, reaching into her pockets to retrieve two small, plastic wrapped packets.
"Lay the poor man down already. He needs some rest." While she waited for him to do so, she looked down at the packages in her hands. A resigned sigh blew out from her lips. These were the last of the heat packets she'd managed to nick from a run down corner store months ago. "d*mn, I was hoping to save these."
--------------
Kin paused before leaving the room, caught abruptly by Sandra's question. She looked at the woman in shock, then back at the boy, amazed that she hadn't thought to get his name yet.
"Oh... um... I don't know," she stammered awkwardly. A light smile touched her lips a second later. "You can come with us if you like. What's your name?"

Kay didn't like being dismissed because she was baby-bound, but she was used to it. Frowning, she fell back and let the rest of them do their respective jobs, running up to aid the fallen Red (now didn't it just figure, people crawling back out of the woodwork left and right) and soothing her daughter in the meantime.
Casey was not amenable to being soothed, however. She'd caught on to the tense and suddenly very active atmosphere and she had grown restless in response, so although Kay distracted her from her crying, the child was fussing instead, squirming in her grip.
While Kay bounced the child in an attempt to distract her, leaning against the wall of the hallway where Cass had caught the lot of them loitering, something occured to her. There was one more person who should know about Red's distressed return. But where was Kin? Kay beelined for the stairwell and descended, glad to be moving again as a good hearty walk up and down the stairs usually lulled Casey into contentment again. She couldn't recall if the scientist was even back from her latest foray into the chilly cityscape. Still, she thudded down the stairs, ears honed for any sign of the mousy scientist. She stopped at every level, peeking out into the hallway of each floor, calling "Kin?" and listening briefly for a response.

John's thoughts of destruction to the pair immediately stopped when she asked that question, and a smile returned to his face. Now he was not just being noticed, but privileged! He'd find out what they were doing in no time, and exploit it to the maximum! Although more likely he'd just watch onwards and ask for Candy, since being CATSed sugar tasted a whole lot nicer than it had done before, or maybe that was just because the sweet stuff was a little hard to find these days and his body craved it for the nutrients,
"I'm John! John Shepherd!" He replied, standing up and continuing to smile, "And I'd love to come with you if you didn't mind at all?"
---------------------
Rio followed the group up the stairs and to Red's room, looking in from the doorway at the scene. It didn't look like her help was needed too much, things seemed to be under as much control as they had been, she couldn't help but ask the collection,
"Is there anything I can do to help?"

Especially in the light inside the Cosway - even if it was dim compared to how it may once been lit - it was clear to Theo and Cass that they were taking the right approaches to this problem. The blue tint that she saw on his skin outside was more apparent once out of the darkening night sky, and it had a slight puffy look to it - most noticeably where the skin was exposed to the wind - along with just how cold he felt to Theo, who had been inside long enough to warm up some, suggested to those with medical training that he was definitely in the second stage of hypothermia, if not just entering stage three. There was a mild darkening around the knuckles and fingertips, suggesting that, even though he had probably kept his hands close to his body, they were frost-nipped - not as severe as standard frostbite but were definitely heading in that direction.
((Pretty much what theokor posted in the notes at the end of his post and the heating pads that Cass has will be needed, plus warm liquids internally at a regular pace since his condition is more than mild hypothermia. I might not be posting often for Red due to his conditions but I'll be reading the board regularly to see if I need to post any descriptors or whatnots... or when he finally recovers.))

"Go ahead, kid," Sandy replied as she let the kid pass her.

((I'm going to wait for a Theo before I reply with Cass.))
"Not in the least," Kin replied cheerily, her smile ever present for the little boy. Even more so now that his sullenness had disappeared. It cheered her to know that a simple invitation was all it took to make the boy cheer up.
"I'm Kin," she introduced herself as they began to walk again. "And this is... um... Sandy, right?" Her gaze switched to the new girl, curiousity furrowing her brows.
They were close enough to the stairwell by then that the faint echo of their voices would carry up to the levels above. However, Kin was too involved in her current discussion to pay attention to external noises.

John smiled and nodded, although not liking being called kid by someone who he was, technically, older than but he had long since found out that it was no use trying to protest against it in his current form. The only thing left to do was to smile and nod, but the second they started forcing him to bed early and being told that he wasn't old enough to do things he wanted to do...
"Yeah, I know you from before Kin! But you must be new!" John said, reffering to Sandy, "When did you get here?"
Kept kept up at the same pace as the others, even if it was some more effort and continued to beam at the pair...

"I was wandering bit. I got seperated from my other group of friends, andI wound up here. Sarah's been helping me out a bit, and I've been helping out a bit as well, so I haven't move on yet." Don't plan on it, she thought to herself.

Theo hesitated a little before laying Red down on the bed and stepping back to let Cass do her thing with the heat patches, rocking back and forth on his heels nervously so when Rio appeared popped up in front of the doorway he jumped again, looking between Rio and Red for a moment before heading for the door "actually yeah, if Cass doesn’t need help go get some water, or snow off the roof to melt down while I dig out one of those gas camping cooker thingies" he had already passed her and was heading back towards the stairs when he turned back and called to her, walking backwards as he did so. "And find out where Sarah is with those blankets!"
Running back up to the 4th floor Theo skidded in front of his door, throwing the door open he dived onto his stash of goodies hidden around the room, glancing at each thing briefly before throwing it over his shoulder, searching for the heater.
((Its not much I know... but I wanted to post something to keep it going and wasn’t sure what x.x))

"Oh!" Kin exclaimed in surprise when John announced that he knew her. She really hadn't been around all that much when he'd first arrived, but apparently she was memorable enough. "So you are the boy we found in the summer. I'm sorry I didn't recognize you right away. I've been a little... scattered lately."
Scattered was the nicest way of putting it. At least it sounded far better than torn up, bloodied, rampaging, revived, weak, desolate and a few other imaginative descriptors that summed up her past few months.
----------------
After Theo took off, Cass moved forward to sit on the bed beside Red. There weren't too many blankets available at her desposal, but she made do with what she could. One was balled up and stuffed under his legs to get them elevated. The other was wrapped as tight as she could manage around his body. She wasn't too pleased with what a close up look at his body revealed, but if he made it through this with just a bit of frostbite then he'd be a lucky bastard.
The heat packs were cracked and tucked under his shirt to sit against his chest. It'd been a while since she'd last had training in first aid, but the basics were still pretty clear in her mind. A person at this stage of hypothermia needed to have their core temperature heated up externally. He wasn't producing his own heat anymore, hence the need for the warm liquids and body heat. Cass looked dubiously at the comatose man as she folded his hands across his chest and propped his head up with a few pillows.
"Sorry man. I like you and all, but there's no way I'm getting that intimate with you. You'll just have to wait for Theo to get back." She stopped short, a furrow putting lines in her brow. "I really gotta stop talking to bodies. Seriously, it's a bad habit."
