So I went and saw a midnight showing of Crystal Skull with the brother-in-law and father last night.

Overall, I felt that the movie's plot was quite good, though some of the settings and bits of actions scenes felt a bit too fake, even by CG standards. They looked real at times, but I wonder if they hit that limit where they say that the mind looks for the flaws instead of the true-to-life bits.
Our little group agreed that Harrison Ford put on a lovely performance. He wasn't called on to do anything that an aged Indiana Jones reasonably couldn't do, and he's still a great actor. 5 fedoras out of 5
Shia LeBeouf isn't exactly an actor that I'm a fan of, but he managed to convince me for a moment that he could actually be a 1950's greaser. None of us were especially thrilled with his acting, but he didn't screw up or anything. 4 switchblades out of 5
Karen Allen still plays a d*mn good Marion Ravenwood, and let's face it. Behind every truly epic male action hero there isHarrison Ford an equally epic woman. 5 wedding dresses out of 5
Cate Blanchett played her character well, but I couldn't help but think that the evil character in this movie was lacking. I found myself cheering for the good Doctor Jones not because he was fighting a commie, but because he was Doctor Jones. 4 rapiers out of 5
John Hurt playing a man driven mad by gazing at a crystal skull? I approve, but I don't feel right really grading a character gone mad.
All things considered, Crystal Skull is a great movie, but no Raiders.
8 whips out of 10.
