((Figured I'd chuck a thread up for Agate and Kay, since he's going to be jumping on her for being an ass to people. XD THAT'S HIS JORB!))
Once he'd finished with the kitchen, and supper, and with Sarah, Agate decided that it was about time to find Kay and figure out what was brewing under that particularly low brow today. Besides, the redhead didn't like being kept with their daughter alone for too long... Agate might as well relieve her of that duty for a while. He wandered into the lobby, then up the stairs to the second floor, listening for Kay's and Casey's voices, certain that he could track the both of them down in the set of rooms that they'd long since taken for themselves.
As he ascended the flight of stairs, he had to concentrate on not gripping the paint-chipped banister too hard. Any sort of conversation with Kay typically wound up in a shouting match these days if it was the least bit confrontational... then again, had it ever been any other way? With Casey to consider, Agate didn't want to make this some emotional barrage. He mostly just wanted to figure out what bug was up Kay's ass to cause her to be so acerbic upon the return of just about anyone. If it'd been Tony who walked through the crawl-hole, yeah, Agate could see being pretty well peeved. Sarah could be a real nuisance (or at least she had been when everyone was still together, on occasion -- that could've changed.) but he didn't see why it warranted Kay's vitriol.

There was one room they had claimed as Casey's -- why not spread out, after all, in an empty hotel? She didn't sleep there just yet -- early attempts to make the girl sleep on her own had yielded hysterical but basically understandable fits of terror over monsters -- but Kay had some time ago moved all of the toys and kids books out of her and Agate's rooms and into Casey's. It made a good base of operations, as it was, for the little girl, as they had gone up and down the place with a fine-toothed comb babyproofing it and zealously plugging up the rat-holes.
It also tended to make finding her easy, most of the time. Being in the room with her helped, of course, but the girl was too little yet to be able to sneak off with much ease, so a careful ear from the next room was usually enough for very short stints.
Making it up to the third floor, Agate could hear the sounds of Casey from her room, but they were quiet. Kay was probably in there with her.
